Patrollers wishing to get their high-country rating will need to participate in a total of four training weekends before becoming qualified as a spare, or being added to the CSP Marmot roster:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. A ski and toboggan training\/rating weekend (January 12\/13 2019<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0February 2\/3 2019<\/strong>). Skiing ability and toboggan handling will be assessed and candidates selected for further training.<\/li>\n
  2. An orientation weekend (February 9\/10 2019<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0March 16\/17 2019<\/strong>). Radio procedures and hill geography will be covered, followed by an evaluation in the form of a simulated patient rescue scenario.<\/li>\n
  3. Two shadow weekends (to be arranged\u00a0with trainers and APLs upon completion of orientation), during which rookie Marmot patrollers will be paired with veteran patrollers for mentorship and continued education.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Participation in each of these weekends will be capped at eight candidates so please get your names in early.\u00a0 If there is excess demand, additional training\/orientation weekends will be advertised in due course.<\/p>\n

    Priority for participation in high country training will be given to returnee patrollers (i.e. those with at least one year of rostered low-country experience). However, space permitting, rookie patrollers are welcome to participate.<\/p>\n
