{"id":6260,"date":"2022-08-30T08:51:30","date_gmt":"2022-08-30T13:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skipatrol.ca\/kawartha\/?page_id=6260"},"modified":"2025-11-28T08:25:40","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T13:25:40","slug":"where-we-ski-knt","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.skipatrol.ca\/kawartha\/where-we-ski-knt\/","title":{"rendered":"WHERE WE SKI &#8211; KAWARTHA NORDIC"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\"><strong>KAWARTHA NORDIC SKI CLUB<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6270 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.skipatrol.ca\/kawartha\/sites\/www.skipatrol.ca\/wp-content\/\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2022\/08\/KZ-Nordic-1-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"504\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cspnational.s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2022\/08\/30090223\/KZ-Nordic-1-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/cspnational.s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2022\/08\/30090223\/KZ-Nordic-1-1024x768.png 1024w, https:\/\/cspnational.s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2022\/08\/30090223\/KZ-Nordic-1-768x576.png 768w, https:\/\/cspnational.s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/34\/2022\/08\/30090223\/KZ-Nordic-1.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Patrolling at Kawartha Nordic Ski Club offers a 3-month season of skate skiing, classic skiing or snowshoeing in the North Kawartha township.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Located approximately 45 km north of Peterborough, the facility offers approximately 65 km of wilderness trails and is open to the public 7 days a week from late December to the end of March.\u00a0 Details of the facility and its programs can be found at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kawarthanordic.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.kawarthanordic.ca<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">The Patrol currently consists of approximately 9 volunteer members who provide coverage on weekends and occasionally during the week.\u00a0 Typical shifts are 4 hours long but may be longer if required. \u00a0For special events at the facility, additional hours may be required from Kawartha Nordic patrollers or other Kawartha Zone patrols.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">Preparation of the facility for the season occurs mid-December every year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif\">A typical patroller at Kawartha Nordic requires good general fitness, effective communication skills, good decision-making skills, leadership, and the ability to work very closely in a team setting.\u00a0 Additional valued skills are the ability to function safely in a remote wilderness environment, and the ability to operate a snowmobile.
