CSP Red Deer seeks patroller help for 2019 Canada Winter Games

The CSP Red Deer Zone really needs additional patrollers to help with the 2019 Canada Winter Games, being held February 15 to March 3, 2019.

Patrollers are required to help cover events in aerials and moguls, slope style and big air, boarder cross, slalom and ski cross, and Nordic. These events will be held at venues in and around Red Deer at Canyon Ski Resort (alpine) and River Bend Golf & Recreational Area (Nordic). From past experience, the Canada Winter Games environment is extremely enjoyable – and lots of fun.

On the alpine side at Canyon, the requirement is to have four patrollers per competition with two on standby (to replace a transporting team) so events can continued uninterrupted. Training sessions will require two patrollers per session with two on standby. This is the minimum requirement for the games.

If you require accommodation, billeting is not guaranteed but the Red Deer Zone CSP will try to accommodate as best as possible. Hotels are also available.

Tentative schedule with number of patrollers needed:

  • Feb. 15 – 16 ; Training Aerials and Moguls – eight patrollers
  • Feb. 17 – Aerials Comp and Mogul training – 10 patrollers
  • Feb. 18 – Mogul Comp and Big Air training – 10 patrollers
  • Feb. 19- Slope Style and Big Air training (one course) – four patrollers
  • Feb. 20 – Comp Slope style – six to eight patrollers
  • Feb. 21 – Big Air Comp – six patrollers
  • Feb. 24 – Boarder Cross Training – four to six patrollers
  • Feb. 25 – Boarder Cross Comp – six to eight patrollers
  • Feb. 26 – Boarder Slope Style training – four to six patrollers
  • Feb. 27 – Boarder Slope Style Comp six to eight patrollers
  • Feb. 28 – Ski Slalom Comp – six patrollers
  • Mar. 1 – Ski cross training – four to six patrollers

CSP members have been at the heart of first aid support for the Canada Winter Games for many years, with sizable contingents at each of 2007 (Whitehorse), 2011 (Halifax/Wentworth/Martock) and 2015 (Prince George, B.C.). Anyone involved in those efforts will tell you it was a terrific experience.
