CSP Mountain Division skills and training seminar set for March 13 and 14, 2020

Members gather to develop, improve and test on snow and first aid skills

The dates have been set for the CSP Mountain Division’s 2020 First Aid and On Snow Training session, known as FAST, which will be held the weekend of March 13 and 14, 2020.

The location will be Jasper, Alberta and the fabulous Marmot Basin. Our amazing colleagues from the CSP Edmonton Zone will be hosting the 51st annual Mountain Division competition.

Look for registration forms and a poster elsewhere on this website in the Information and Forms area.

The plans follow a highly successful 2019 FAST held in early March 2019 at Sunshine Village near Banff, Alberta. The 2019 FAST marked 50 years of skills development seminars in Mountain Division, and revisited the site, Sunshine Village, of the first session in 1969. At that session, David Marchant, CSP Mountain Division Life Member No.1, was honoured for having helped to set the toboggan skills course at every session since they began.

Teams of three patrollers travel from across the division to take place in the seminar, which includes examinations of first aid skills and toboggan skills. The team displaying the best skills goes on to represent the CSP Mountain Division at a national competition, to be held at the CSP’s annual conference. For 2020, that conference is set for Calgary, Alberta, in June 2020.

Questions on the CSP Mountain Division FAST can be forwarded to the division’s fast coordinator, Louise Charron, at jpcharron@shaw.ca.
