In accordance with By-law No. 1, specifically sections 2.04 and 5.01 the board of directors is having a special meeting of the members opening on Saturday April 1st, 2017 and closing on Sunday April 2nd, 2017. The location of the special meeting of the members will be at Big White Ski Resort, in Kelowna, B.C. in association with the 2017 Leadership Conference of the Canadian Ski Patrol. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017.
The special meeting of the members will encompass most of the content from the annual general meeting with the exception of the financial and budgetary discussions. The financial and budgetary reports will occur in June, following the closing of our fiscal year and receipt of our audited statements.
This meeting will include management committee reports, board of directors’ reports and business brought to the membership for decisions and direction. This meeting will also have the election of the directors to the board.
This election cycle has four positions to be determined. According to the adopted motion at the CSP’s annual general meeting of 2016; two of these director positions will be for a three-year term expiring in 2020 (the highest vote-count recipients) and two will be for a one-year term expiring in 2018 (the next two highest vote-count recipients). This will complete the transition to three-year terms for the directors, as last year the three directors were elected for a three-year term expiring in 2019.
Any member in good standing may have their name put forward for consideration according to the election procedures of the Canadian Ski Patrol. There are resources available for members to prepare themselves as well as direction on required procedures, including the nomination process. Please contact the national office for these documents. Any existing or past member of the board can be approached to learn more of what this role entails.
