The CSP 2019 combined national on-snow work shop will be held February 8 to 10.
If you are an on-snow instructor or instructor trainer you should talk to your division and zone training managers about attending this event.
This year Searchmont Resort in Ontario Division, Sault Ste. Marie Zone, will be hosting the workshop. www.searchmont.ca
The goal of the workshop is to make on-snow training fun for all, and to get familiar with the most recent on-snow modules, and share tips and experiences. No matter the discipline; alpine, Nordic, snowboard or telemark, instructors from across the country will leave this workshop feeling more informed and confident when it comes to instructing fellow patrollers, and providing on snow rescue services to the skiing public.
Agenda items for this year are currently under review and are still being finalized. The on-snow modules have been updated now for both alpine and Nordic, and will be reviewed. Other possible topics include toboggan skid school, rope work and extrication, shelter building and ski improvement of ski patrol skills. In addition, as there is an increasing segment of our client base that displays some form of disability, we may be looking at how we may better support them as well as provide extrication from a sit ski.
This event has historically been slow to get numbers established but then ends up being over attended, so as usual, registration will be limited, and confirmed on a first-paid to the national office, first-registered, basis. The fee is being finalized and will be released in the coming months. We have secured a limited number of rooms (two queen beds) for $99 plus tax.
We would like to know numbers sooner than later, so if you are interested in attending please let your zone and division training managers know so that they can confirm with us.
