For our fourth feature of the year, meet our May furry friends:

Hilo, British Columbia

Hilo, is a six-year-old, Bernese Mountain Dog and Kirby’s best buddy. Hilo loves the snow and getting out to the ski hill, catching snowflakes outside the new day lodge at Troll Resort in central B.C.

Owner: Kirby Booker, Troll Resort, Pacific North, Prince George Zone, British Columbia.

Bella and Pucky, Quebec

Pucky (5 years old, the redhead) and Bella (7 years old, the blonde) are my babies, and everyone knows them at Station de ski Mont Castor, where I’ve been patrolling for 37 years now. They’re my third generation of golden retrievers. Over the years, my dogs have closed the slopes, worked at the ticket office and even taken part in student sports to motivate the youngsters. They all wait for the photo to be taken in disguise, and they play along because they get a treat afterwards. I can’t imagine my life without a dog, for my physical and mental health.

Owner: Andrée Métivier, I’m a patroller at Station de ski Mont Castor in Matane and we’re part of the Eastern Quebec zone.

How to get your pet featured

Please send an email to Diana Lee (diana.lee@skipatrol.ca) with the subject line: “Pets of Patrollers: Your Name, Your Pet Name” and the following details:

  • Name, age, breed of your pet (e.g., Onyx, two years old, German Shepherd dog).
  • Fun fact or an interesting detail about your pet and what they mean to you.
  • Attach a photo of your pet (bonus points if they are wearing CSP gear :-).
  • Your zone and the resort(s) you patrol at.

Mental health is an important aspect of the Canadian Ski Patrol. We hope that these pet photos spark joy throughout your 2025 season!

Even for those who don’t have pets, interacting or even seeing an animal can boost their mood. Just think of the positive impact of therapy dogs.
