Are you a CSP Nordic patroller … or are you a “wannabe”? Everyone has an image of themselves gliding smoothly along cross-country trails enjoying the natural environment, and yes, sometimes even enjoying granola bars.

If so, this message is for you.

Newly expanded Nordic on snow materials – training record and training booklet

After years in the shadow of our alpine colleagues, our CSP Nordic On Snow (OS) Training Record and Nordic OS Training Booklet have been updated and expanded by, and for, Nordic patrollers.

Nordic patrolling – not just on skis

In addition, we have recognized that Nordic patrolling is more than just skiing. Nordic patrolling also includes other disciplines, and in this Nordic Training Record and Nordic qualifications update we have added snowshoeing. This may be your introduction to Nordic patrolling!

Evolving training and development for Nordic patrol

We know we have made significant strides forward but in this environment of continuous improvement we recognize that we need to have experience with this new approach. While we introduce it nationally for use now, we will conduct a review at the end of the 2025-2026 season to identify steps to make it even better.

Thank you to the many Nordic patrollers who have contributed to this exciting update in training and certification.

These new documents will soon be posted online in our Learning Centre in Student Resources, and in the ICP Library.

Not currently on-snow certified as a Nordic patroller?

To all of our alpine colleagues … yes, you can be a dual certified patroller … you can support and experience the joy of Nordic patrolling. Let’s go Nordic!

Let’s go Nordic!
