We are seeking interesting stories and topics for future member newsletters

Every month, the 5/5 editorial team works to offer interesting and pertinent stories for the CSP member newsletter, the 5/5. You will often see messages from the co-executive directors or different national portfolio leads. However, we are also seeking interesting articles from the broader membership.

Sharing the voices of members from across the country

Have you attended an event recently, representing the CSP? Do you have some cool gear that you find useful in your patrol duties? Maybe you’ve gone on a winter vacation, and you met some patrollers at the resort you skied or snowboarded at? We would love to share your experience in a short story (please, 400 words or less).

How to submit your story

Feel free to email your draft article (along with attachments of images or video files) to our 5/5 editors AP Crawford (English), ap.crawford@skipatrol.ca, and Jacques Blais (French), jacques.blais@skipatrol.ca, or me.

Deadline for articles

The deadline to submit an article for an upcoming 5/5 newsletter issue, is the 26th day of month at 11:00 p.m. ET.

You’ve submitted an article. What happens next?

Within the first week of the following month, you will receive an email from AP for stories originally submitted in English, or from Jacques for stories originally submitted in French, with an edited version of your story.

Editing ensures we have readability, spelling and punctuation consistency within Canada Press standards, and general grammatical correctness. You will have an opportunity to confirm that the final version of the article (in the language submitted) is accurate.

Then, keep an eye out for your article the middle of the month.

If the upcoming 5/5 issue is heavy with important member news, your article may be held for a future 5/5 issue. You will be notified of this within the first week of the month.

Have some article topic ideas for articles in English, but aren’t sure where to start with writing it, reach out to AP and she will be happy to help flush out the article with you.

If you are searching for past articles that are not available on the newsletter website, please contact Kerri Loudoun (kerri.loudoun@skipatrol.ca) with the general topic of the article and the team will send you a digital copy of that article.
