Earlier this year, we launched our Pets of Patrollers feature to highlight the happiness and comfort we experience when our animal friends interact with us.

For our eighth feature of the year, meet the September sweeties:

Seaside Ripley, Nova Scotia

Meet Seaside Ripley from Nova Scotia. He is a Nova Scotia Duck tolling retriever and is his dad's ski buddy. Ripley loves to greet the kids in the parking lot with his Toller Hollar. Ripley is now four years old, but the photos are of him when he was just two.

Owner: Rod Hull, Ski Martock, Scotia Zone.

Bailey, British Columbia

Bailey is a five-year-old 22 lb Shitzu, Japanese Chin, and Beagle mix. Bailey came to us as a pound puppy foster, and we failed as a foster family and kept her. To our delight, she loves the snow and can handle the cold due to her rugged coat. She has nicknames including Savage, Monkey, Rat dog, Land shark, and [some other names that will be omitted from this 5/5].

Bailey gets to ride the last lift run of the year and races us to the bottom. She’s spoiled at the ski hill and at home (as she gets to sleep in the pack’s king bed).

Owner: Ken Myers, Patrol Leader - Purden Mountain, Prince George Zone, Pacific North.

How to get your pet featured

Please send an email to Diana Lee (diana.lee@skipatrol.ca) with the subject line: “Pets of Patrollers: Your Name, Your Pet Name” and the following details:

  • Name, age, breed of your pet (e.g., Onyx, two years old, German Shepherd dog).
  • Fun fact or an interesting detail about your pet and what they mean to you.
  • Attach a photo of your pet (bonus points if they are wearing CSP gear).
  • Your zone and the name of the resort(s) you patrol at.

Mental health is an important aspect of the Canadian Ski Patrol. We hope that these pet photos spark joy throughout your 2025 season!

Even for those who don't have pets, interacting or even seeing an animal can boost their mood. Just think of the positive impact of therapy dogs.
