In this article we are providing some useful tips on gathering information to write an effective CSP national award nomination to submit for your fellow patrollers.<\/p>\n

Things to keep in mind about the awards and nomination process:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. Any member in good standing may submit a nomination for any award unless specified otherwise in the individual award guideline.<\/li>\n
  2. Self-nomination is not permitted.<\/li>\n
  3. All nominations must be reviewed by the nominee’s zone president and\/or division president before being presented to the CSP National Recognition Committee.<\/li>\n
  4. The committee’s consideration is based solely on the information received in the nomination. It is, therefore, imperative that a nomination be as complete as possible.<\/li>\n
  5. Submission deadline: April 28, 2025, at midnight, Eastern Time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Step 1 \u2013 review award categories and criteria<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Log into awards.skipatrol.ca*<\/a> and look through the different award categories currently available at the national level. Read carefully through the criteria that must be considered for each individual award.<\/p>\n

    *Login credentials are the same email address and password you use to log into Yeti.<\/em><\/p>\n

    Step 2 \u2013 determine the award(s) appropriate to nominate your fellow patroller(s) in<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    After reading through each award description and its criteria it should be easy to determine which award(s) match(es) which patroller(s) you\u2019re thinking of.<\/p>\n

    Make a list with the patroller and the appropriate award name to see how many nominations might be on your plate to write. One patroller can be nominated for multiple awards within the same award year if they seem to meet each award\u2019s criteria. There is no guarantee that the patroller will win in all awards they are nominated in.<\/p>\n

    Step 3 \u2013 create individual nomination documents for each nomination you plan to write<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    While each award has field boxes to type in your nomination text, it\u2019s best to start by creating a separate document (Word, Notes, Pages or others) to work on until you\u2019re ready to submit the final written nomination. We also recommend keeping your own copy of the nomination(s) in a separate file.<\/p>\n

    We recommend you copy and paste from the awards portal website, the info for each specific nomination. There are details which will be important to know (like word limits for each section), that is helpful to have as reference, in your draft document, so you don\u2019t have to keep going back to the awards portal website.<\/p>\n

    Follow this same process for each award nomination you plan to do. Now you\u2019ve got your template(s) ready, to start drafting your nomination!<\/p>\n
