{"id":8805,"date":"2019-10-20T17:35:59","date_gmt":"2019-10-20T22:35:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skipatrol.ca\/newsletter\/?p=8805"},"modified":"2021-11-03T22:29:37","modified_gmt":"2021-11-04T02:29:37","slug":"call-for-nominations-for-patroller-recognition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.skipatrol.ca\/newsletter\/2019\/10\/call-for-nominations-for-patroller-recognition\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Nominations for Patroller Recognition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>October 20, 2019<\/p>\n<p>Dear zone presidents and division presidents,<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the National Recognition Policy, we would like to inform you that nominations are now open for the 2019-20 Recognition Program.<\/p>\n<p>We have updated the Recognition Program Guide, so please be sure to review it prior to making a submission.\u00a0 It can be found on the Shared Files area of the National Database, and also in the Members area of the National Website, under \u2018Awards\u2019<\/p>\n<p>There are some things to remember when making a submission:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nominations may be made, in most cases, by any member in good standing<\/li>\n<li>A complete nomination is needed \u2013 be sure to include all information being requested. The Program Guide indicates what questions are being asked for each award.<\/li>\n<li>Be specific \u2013 Say things like \u201cThis person led the committee responsible for\u2026.\u201d, rather than \u201cThis person worked on xyz committee\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Be sure the individual has met any prerequisites where necessary. If not, nominate the person for that award first.<\/li>\n<li>Consider having a committee to review patrollers and come up with submissions \u2013 don\u2019t just leave it for one person to do.<\/li>\n<li>Be succinct \u2013 there is a limit to the number of words. If you cannot say what you want in that number of words \u2013 rework your nomination.<\/li>\n<li>The committee can only score a nomination based on what is presented. The committee members cannot bring their personal knowledge of a nominee into the discussion process, as it is not fair to other nominees who may not know somebody on the committee.<\/li>\n<li>If you have questions, ask! If you are not sure of which award is best suited, just drop a note \u2013 the Recognition Committee is here to help.\u00a0 We want to ensure that all members who are deserving, get recognized.<\/li>\n<li>And finally, don\u2019t wait for somebody else to nominate an individual \u2013 that person may be waiting for you!
