Feeling a bit rusty on some aspects of avalanche safety? A good first place to go is Avalanche Canada\u2019s \u201c<em>Online Avalanche Tutorial,<\/em>\u201d available in both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avalanche.ca\/tutorial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">English<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avalanche.ca\/tutoriel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">French<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, check out Avalanche Canada\u2019s (AvCan) training feature video \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.avalanche.ca\/cherry-bowl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rescue at Cherry Bowl<\/a>.\u201d It is a powerful example of how your training can be used in a rescue situation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Avalanche skills training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>General:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested in knowing more about Avalanche Skills Training (AST)? Avalanche Canada has a comprehensive webpage that describes the whole avalanche skills training <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avalanche.ca\/training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">curriculum<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AST 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are a large number of organizations that are licensed by Avalanche Canada, (the CSP being one) to provide AST training. To find a course or provider in your area, check AvCan\u2019s website for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avalanche.ca\/training\/courses\">courses<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.avalanche.ca\/training\/providers\">providers<\/a>. Note that not all providers will list all their courses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AST 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For those that have taken an AST 1 course previously and want to ramp up their skills, CSP Mountain Division is organizing an AST 2 course. Dates are February 27 to March 1. The course instructor is an Association of Canadian Mountain Guides\/Union Internationale des Associations de Guides De Montagnes-certified mountain guide.<\/p>\n<p>The AST 2 course is four days \u2013 the first day is in-classroom, the second day is typically touring north of Lake Louise and days 3 and 4 are touring in Rogers Pass.<\/p>\n<p>The cost for this course is $615.
