sessions during the patrolling season to find out if patrolling is for you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Advanced First Aid (AFA) training<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Will commence in October and November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>AFA classes are projected to start early October 2025, every Sunday from 9:00 t0 17:00, and include a field day until evaluations in early December.<\/p>\n<p>(NOTE:\u00a0 Candidate training for Valley Patrol may have different dates and locations)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cspnational.s3.ca-central-1.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/40\/2025\/03\/31173731\/CSP-RDZ-2025-26-eAFA-Course-Outline-Summary.pdf\">CSP RDZ 2025-26 &#8211; You should be able to handle all of the runs, types of terrain and snow conditions at the resort where you wish to patrol. In general, you should be able to ski or ride as well or better than the average person at the ski area where you patrol.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Commitment\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ski Patrol is made up of volunteers who commit their time on weekends and\/or evenings to ensure that there is proper coverage during operating hours at the areas where they\u00a0patrol. Your commitment would be\u00a0approximately four to five shifts per month providing coverage at your area. In addition, expect to do about four events per year helping to raise funds, support and promote the patrol.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>How is the CSP funded?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>As a non-profit organization, the Canadian Ski Patrol relies heavily on the dues collected from patrollers, donations of the general public and fundraising by members.; to purchase the first aid supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous items required by a large volunteer organization.<\/p>\n<h4>First Year Patrollers<\/h4>\n<p>Patrollers in their first year are required to pay f0r the AFA course which includes an electronic copy of the first aid manual and more.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Canadian Ski Patrol does not supply skiing equipment, each patroller is responsible for providing the basic helmet, skis, boots, poles and miscellaneous equipment necessary to partake of the sport. A limited number of discounts are available for patrollers, generally through the ski equipment manufacturers, as well as ski swaps.<\/p>\n<p><b>Membership fees:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>For first year patrollers, the AFA course and registration fees are $300.00 (all inclusive).<\/p>\n<p>Be prepared to pay for the above fees prior to training.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once you pass and become a patroller, there is a deposit for your uniform jacket.<\/p>\n<p>Annual Membership fees; (national, division and zone) are offset by fundraising.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>People wanting to take the Advanced First Aid training and not Patrol will be charged $500.00 (this will not include on snow training).<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Red Deer Zone is looking for new recruits, for the Canyon, Medicine Lodge and Valley Patrols, for the 2025-2026 season. &nbsp; There\u2019s really no such thing as a typical ski patroller.
