In with a bang out with a  whimper. As everyone is well aware, our Patrol Season has been cut short due to the ongoing COVID-19 concerns.

We wanted to let you know what the Calgary Zone Executives are doing to address the upcoming AGM and other training in the spring.

The Calgary Zone Spring On Snow scheduled for April 4th and 5th has been cancelled and all the participants have been contacted by Kai Seltner, VP Recruitment.  We want to keep these prospects engaged and have them participate in next falls On Snow.  Those candidates that have already had a ski evaluation at their EP days will have the right to register first when new Patroller Registration opens in the fall.

Jarrett McRitchie, PL Summer Events, will be reaching out to our Event Organizers to see what events are being impacted and how the summer events will unfold this year.  Stay tuned for more.

The National Annual Conference planned for June 4 through 6th has been postponed and the National Board of Directors is looking at rescheduling the event for some time late August or early September.

The Division Annual General meeting has been rescheduled for September, as the Division Bylaws allows for a 6 month timeframe to hold the meeting after the fiscal year end.

Calgary Zone is currently working on an alternative to our usual meeting, as the venue, Willow Park G&C is closed. We are considering an electronic meeting, ( Skype) with the Zone Executives providing their reports prior to the meeting as well as the 2020/2021 Financial Budget.  In this scenario, the awards portion of the meeting would be rescheduled to later in the summer or early fall.  The executive elections, voting on member proposals and voting on the budget will be held electronically.  Please send your nominations for these positions to sandraw2@telus.net as per the prior meeting notice. Click here should you have missed the AGM call for nominations.

To those Members who were in their first year training cycle, first of all welcome; I hope you enjoyed the short time you had with your new Patrol Families. Any training that has been completed this year will be carried forward to next season. Once we return, your training can be completed for the 20/21 season.

The Calgary Zone Executive will complete the season, with meetings or conference calls to insure we are well positioned for next season. We are currently in the process of budgeting for the 20/21 season, setting up alternatives to Instructor Training, looking at the impact on recertification and CPR recertification for next year, equipment needs, recruiting, retention, and other projects.  We will keep you informed of any major changes and hope these measures are only short term.

Thank you to all for your efforts this season, and I look forward to next season.

All the very best.

Jean
