Please disregard the following if you have already signed up for one of the high-country training weekends. If you have not signed up and are interested in becoming a Marmot Patroller, then read on!

Patrollers wishing to get their high-country rating will need to participate in a total of four training weekends before becoming qualified as a spare, or being added to the CSP Marmot roster:

  1. Spots are still available on one of our ski and toboggan training/rating weekends (February 2/3 2019). Skiing ability and toboggan handling will be assessed and candidates selected for further training.
  2. An orientation weekend (February 9/10 2019 or March 16/17 2019). Radio procedures and hill geography will be covered, followed by an evaluation in the form of a simulated patient rescue scenario.
  3. Two shadow weekends (to be arranged with trainers and APLs upon completion of orientation), during which rookie Marmot patrollers will be paired with veteran patrollers for mentorship and continued education.

Participation will be capped at eight candidates for the February 2/3 training/rating weekend, so please get your names in early. If there is excess demand, additional training/orientation weekends will be advertised in due course.

Priority for participation in high country training will be given to returnee patrollers (i.e. those with at least one year of rostered low-country experience). However, space permitting, rookie patrollers are welcome to participate.

For further information, please contact our illustrious Marmot Basin CSP trainers at CSPatMarmot@gmail.com and provide your name, desired dates for rating/training and orientation weekends, number of years in the patrol and where you are currently rostered.
