Do you want to volunteer at Western Canada’s premier Nordic skiing event? Yes, of course you do!
The Birkebeiner (a.k.a the Birkie) occurs in and around Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area approximately 30 minutes east of Edmonton. The event started in 1985, and continues the tradition of honouring perseverance, courage and fortitude…….as well as lots of Nordic Fun for the whole family!
The Birkie depends on its 550+ volunteers to put on this premiere ski loppet! Can you think of a single reason why you shouldn’t be one of them? Volunteer at this event with the Canadian Ski Patrol!
The CSP works at four of the field first aid stations. We either drive, or get driven by van or snowmobile into the sites. We are tasked with providing first aid services to the skiers as they come by each station. We also have Patrollers that are Nordic skiers, and they provide first aid out on the course.
If you are interested, you can sign up on the volunteer sign-up website (volunteersignup.org/3W9PF) or send Mike Cava an email.
