2027 Ski Improvement Clinic details announced, registrations open

CSP Mountain Division starts its sixth decade of annual ski and snowboard clinics

The CSP Mountain Division is very pleased to announce the details of, and registration information for, the 2027 Canadian Ski Patrol Mountain Division Ski Improvement Clinic at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

There are some changes and new features this year, which marks the start of the sixth decade of Mountain Division supporting ski and snowboard skills improvement.

The 2027 event offers three clinic weeks:

  • Week 1 – January 17 to 22, 2027.
  • Week 2 – January 31 to February 5, 2027.
  • Week 3 – February 21 to 26, 2027.

The venue is world class, the instruction is superb, and the social atmosphere is unmatched. This event attracts hundreds of satisfied CSP members and their friends and family from across Canada and around the world.

Full event and registration information can be found here.

The adult package price for lifts, lessons and the banquet is $875. It’s up about 16 per cent from a year earlier due to higher resort pricing. The CSP Mountain Division continues to organize and offer the event at cost, as we have for 51 years.

The clinic program includes four days of group lessons in either skiing or snowboarding, five days of lift access and a celebratory banquet on the Thursday night, all at the world-class venue of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Attendees receive group ski or snowboard instruction for more than 20 hours across four days, in groups of comparable competencies to optimize learning. There’s a full and fun social agenda, and attendees also have access to great discounts on food, retail goods, fine dining, and many other offerings. This event is unparalleled.

In 2027 we will offer adult and youth group instruction for our clinic, however child group lessons will be offered directly by Kicking Horse at special pricing. We will offer children’s lift tickets and passes, and child attendees are of course welcome at the banquet.

We have a new registration platform at:

https://www.zeffy.com/en-CA/ticketing/2027-ski-improvement-clinic-by-canadian-ski-patrol-mountain-division-2

  • This platform is hosted by Montreal-based Zeffy.
  • It allows non-profits such as the CSP Mountain Division to ticket events at no cost.
  • It simplifies the rather staggering administrative and accounting work of organizing the clinic.
  • It allows us to use credit card payment for the first time. (Also, debit, Apple Pay and Google Pay.)
  • It asks for optional tips to Zeffy to cover credit card processing and other Zeffy platform costs upon checkout. If you wish to tip and support Zeffy, it is up to you.

Booking Glacier Mountaineer accommodation has changed:

Glacier Mountaineer accommodation bookings are now made using a short-term rental model like Airbnb. The accommodation management company has changed to S&T Properties from Bellstar.

  • Pricing is based on individual units rather than classes of rooms. The same variety of suites is still available (1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, etc.), but nicer units are priced accordingly.
  • Accommodations are booked online. See the info sheet (linked above) for more details.
  • We have arranged a discount for Glacier Mountaineer bookings for clinic participants. If you have any issues booking Glacier Mountaineer online contact S&T at 403-668-9366.
  • S&T is still adding inventory to its website as it completes the transition from the hotel approach used by Bellstar. Currently, inventory may be limited, but more is being added every day.
  • We have also arranged discounts with additional accommodation providers, including Palliser Lodge and Copper Horse Lodge. See the info sheet for details.

Organizing team evolution:

The clinic organizing team is evolving. Franziska (Franzi) Middrup, a CSP Edmonton Zone patroller, is working with Geoff Scotton as the new clinic coordinator. Gordon Merz and Jarrett McRitchie (and Geoff) remain critical members of the team. Franzi is the main clinic contact at franziska.middrup@skipatrol.ca.

Please make sure to register early to take advantage of this great event that brings patrollers, their friends, and their families together from across Canada for some superb instruction at an amazing mountain amid a terrific social atmosphere.
