There are several members of Calgary zone who are winners of prestigious national awards for 2020. In the past we would invite these individual to the National Annual Conference where these awards would be presented in person.
Firstly, I want to inform you of the effort involved in writing and submitting the nominations and of the process of adjudicating the nominations. Each year an Awards Committee is struck in the Zone. This committee must pull the past history of awards for every Member in the Zone and identify the candidates that are qualified to be nominated for national awards based on their awards histories. Once the nominees are identified, the nominations must be researched, well written and submitted on the NDS. Each nomination consists of responses to a series of questions that must be supported with concrete data. These nominations are submitted to a jury of seven who individually score each nomination on a point system. Those nominations which attain the minimum number of points are recommended to the Board of Directors to be awarded. The Board of Directors ratifies this recommendation.
