You have all heard about the opioid overdose crisis in Canada. In the Province of Alberta it has become such a large concern that the government is giving away Naloxone kits at every pharmacy. One method for administering Naloxone is the NARCAN nasal spray kit. While we are patrolling ,we cannot administer Naloxone, but as a member of the general public we can. In order to increase our knowledge, I have arranged for a nurse from Streetworks to put on a seminar for us on how to use the NARCAN kit.

Two session are scheduled, on February 8th or February 12th, both at 6pm at NAIT Patricia campus in room P157/ P159. This sessions are open to all Patrollers. The sessions will cover signs and symptoms, critical interventions (CPR), what Naloxone is, how it works and how to administer it it with the NARCAN kit. We need to know ahead of time how many people are planning to attend so that we can have the correct number of props.

You can sign up at www.volunteersignup.org/X9B7E under the NARCAN tab, or send an email to Michael Cava.
