Mountain Division competition and training seminar at Castle Mountain
Teams from across the CSP Mountain Division met at Castle Mountain near Pincher Creek, Alta on March 6 and 7 for the 2026 First Aid and On Snow Training Seminar (FAST).

The program included a full day of professional development (PD) training on Friday, March 6, and a first aid competition and toboggan challenge on Saturday, March 7. Thanks to Terry Abrams and Chris Oliver for leading the PD sessions.
The first aid competition centres around a scenario, overseen by CSP first aid examiners, to which each of the three-person competition teams responds. Teams are marked by a pair of examiners on the team’s ability to respond to the mock incident, with a 25-minute deadline. The scenario involved two patients, so triage and prioritizing care was paramount.
The toboggan challenge centres around navigating a marked alpine course with a weighted toboggan, with mandatory side-slip areas and each of the team’s three members required to safely pilot the toboggan through a portion of the course. Toboggan transfers must be safely completed in pre-defined areas. The focus is on a controlled descent down the slope.
The event wrapped up with a banquet and awards on Saturday, March 7.
Results of the competition can be found here.
